Weekend Back in the Midwest

I spent this weekend back in the Midwest, visiting friends in Chicago, family in Bloomington, and more friends and family on campus at the University of Illinois. I started the weekend in Chicago with one of my best friends, Mike Ashida. We went to our favorite Japanese restaurant in the city, called Katsu before meeting up with some friends at a local bar.

After work on Friday, we drove to the University of Illinois to visit my little sister and see some of our old classmates.

On Saturday, my sister, Mike, and Mike’s sister went to Bloomington to visit with the rest of my family. I was able to see my new sisters for the first time, which was really neat.

Lassen Volcanic National Park

Matte and I drove about 235 miles to Lassen Volcanic National Park, today. I hiked up to the summit of Brokeoff Mountain (Mount Tehama) at about 9,200 feet, and of course, took some photos along the way. The ~7 mile-hike took me about 3 hours and 45 minutes. Five National Parks in California down. Four more to go.

Tungsten Progress

I spent some time with Jermann working on our Tungsten project. After soldering a few components together, we were ready to connect to Matte and send commands and retrieve data from the onboard diagnostics.

Walk near Palo Alto

Instead of the typical solo National Park adventure, I checked out some trails near Palo Alto with my friends this weekend.

Pinnacles National Park

I’m in the process of uploading some of my recent adventures. This one comes from Pinnacles National Park, which I visited on Saturday, 09.20.2014. I hiked for about 8 miles around various trails during midday. It was incredibly warm, and I didn’t bring enough water, but I’m glad I was able to get some good shots.

Point Reyes

Jason and I went to Point Reyes National Seashore last Saturday, September 27th with Matte. As usual, it was incredibly windy, but the lighting was great for snapping photos.

Chelsea v Arsenal

A disappointing loss by Arsenal to Chelsea this morning. It was definitely an exciting game of high-intensity, including a shoving match between the two managers. Chelsea remains unbeaten.

Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Park

Since moving to San Francisco, I’ve spent most weekends exploring California. This weekend, I drove Southeast to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Park. The roads and scenery were quite impressive, and I plan to head for another visit, soon. The 4.5-hour drive to the park that was well worth the journey.
